II Characters
Main Character:
The main character is Ralph. Ralph is a twelve years old boy, he was chosen by his friends in the story as their leader because Ralph has a leadership potential.It was he who establishes a mock-democratic government for the group in order for them to be founded by the rescue team, and to maintain peace and order.
I can identify the main character when he was able to lead his fellow comrades to build a fire to be able to know their presence on the island, He was also the one who is consistent in his will that brings courage in him to be able to survived on the island.
· Supporting Characters:
- Piggy - is a fat boy, a friend of Ralph and shorter than Ralph. He was raised by his auntie, he was also warned not to run fast because he had asthma.
- Jack Merridew - a red hair boy, he was the lead singer in their school choir. He was a tall and thin boy.
III Setting
· Describe the time and place of the story:
Lord of the Flies takes place during the World War II on a wild island in the Pacific Ocean. The marooned schoolboys have survived a plane crash caused by warfare. They are innocent victims of adult violence. They also believed that there were a ghost in the said island. The wild seems to offer them sufficient food, water, shelter, and even the possibility of eventual rescue.
IV Plot: The Action/Summary of What Happened in the Story
· Summary of the story (list up to 6 events that happened in the story; keep them in order):
- During the World War II, a plane was shot down and crashed over an island. Ralph and Piggy found a conch in the lagoon near the beach, they had decided to use it to call the other survivor's in the island.
- After they had all gathered, they elected their leader and start tasking each one of them. Their leader was Ralph. They divided into groups to start exploring the island.
- Later on, Jack who was the leader of the school choir becomes obsessed in hunting the pigs on the island. Jack eventually abandons their goals to escape on the island. He wanted to create a tribe out of his own choir members, and to rebel against Ralph.
- When Simon had reached at the place where Jack and his tribe has setup a trap, He has been killed by the spears of Jack's tribe. After that, three (Piggy, Sam, and Eric) of them was left in staying at Ralph's side.
- Jack's tribe steal's the glasses of Piggy that causes him to be blinded, and while Ralph was fighting Jack, Jack's comrade drops a large rock direct at the head of Piggy which had lead to its death.
- And when Piggy was killed, Sam and Eric betrayed Ralph and joined the tribe of Jack. Ralph was so afraid and running for his life. And when he reached at the shore and noway to run, There we're a naval ship who came to rescue them. And their tears was falling down.
V Theme
· What is the author trying to say in this story? Is there a moral to this story?
The author was trying to tell us that to have faith and trust in each other. Don't be too fool to be a betrayal when losing hope, cooperate with your teammates as well as with your leader.
· This book showed me/I learned from this story:
I learned that working together is much easier than doing it alone.
· State a problem in the story and how it was solved
They needed to escaped on the island, but many bad things were happened, many of them were killed by Jack's tribe. And while their shelter was burning, it causes a big fire that leads the captain of the naval ship to rescue them.
VI Evaluation of the Book
· What are your thoughts about the book?
I like the story of this book, because i can relate with the characters in the story. But, at first i've experiencing a hard time when reading the book, so i tried to consult the internet for it, and now i understand the story. I can relate my self to Piggy when I'm in elementary. I'm so fat when I was a kid.
